POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Quality is a senior-level professional who has oversight over the quality assurance and improvement activities across the business unit organization. They are responsible for oversite and standardization of all quality related activities. Including but not limited to, developing and implementing quality policies, standards, and systems that ensure customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.  

OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF ROLE
To identify the Quality vision, goals, and objectives for quality management and align them with the organizational strategy and culture. They also communicate and promote the importance and value of quality to all stakeholders, including senior management, employees, customers, suppliers, and regulators. A director of quality is accountable for the performance and results of the quality function and reports on key quality indicators and metrics.

To act as a role model, promoting Kelvion’s Standard of Excellence which incorporates high standard of ethical behavior, to promote a culture of honesty and integrity, and one team culture which will be reflected in the services we provide to our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • They set the vision, goals, and objectives for quality management and align them with the organizational strategy and culture. They also communicate and promote the importance and value of quality to all stakeholders, including senior management, employees, customers, suppliers, and regulators. A director of quality is accountable for the performance and results of the quality function and reports on key quality indicators and metrics.
  • Ensure compliance to company’s Quality System.
  • Assist with strategic quality planning for the organization.  Identify, analyze, assess, define and prioritize key quality projects, metrics, and goals.
  • Develop and execute internal audits to ensure compliance to quality standards and procedures.
  • Act as a liaison to represent the company and assist management as needed when customer issues or problems arise relating to quality by responding with efficiency to all customer quality issues caused or potentially caused by the company. 
  • Ensure that all customer quality issues and guidelines are followed, investigated, corrective actions are implemented, communicated to the workforce, and have all appropriate paperwork filled out and returned on a timely basis.
  • Ensure Quality Management System are standardized across the sites.
  • Ensure control is maintained for all documents within the quality system.
  • Assist local Quality Manager with performance reviews and 9 Blocks of all Quality Personnel.
  • Work closely with all site managers and make recommendations as needed.
  • Performs all activities in accordance with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Ensure customer claims and internal quality issues are investigated properly using appropriate 8D techniques.
  • Other duties as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES – Corporate / Site
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Global Code of Business Principles, Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, Operational Framework.

  • Ability to supervise employees in accordance with Kelvion’s policies, procedures and applicable laws.
REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)
  • Knowledgeable with formal quality certification requirements and have successfully led certification and recertification audits, preferably ISO 9001 and ASME.
  • Exhibit good computer skills, Word, Excel, and Power Point as well as have excellent math skills and ability to process numbers quickly to produce charts, control documents, and work instructions.
  • Have direct experience and exposure to customer quality contacts, supplier quality contacts and ability to build relationships.
  • Create and maintain an environment that promotes teamwork, responsiveness, efficiency and a positive working environment.
  • Exhibit good interpersonal skills, team building, and leadership characteristics.
  • Be able to deal with change and respond quickly to a fast-paced environment.
  • Occasional travel (up to 20%) by land and /or air. Able to receive and maintain valid passport.
  • Have good oral and written skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification.
  • ASME Codes and Nondestructive Testing Preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)
  • At least 10 years work experience in a manufacturing environment having responsibility for Quality with at least 10 years’ experience in a quality managerial role.
  • Must be a certified Quality Auditor.
  • Must have a 4-year college degree and/or equivalent work experience.
